Welcome to Team Tara!!
I was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) which resulted in 3 open heart surgeries before the age of 2. Fortunately, I have been relatively healthy and able to live a normal life – with some physical limitations. It wasn’t until recently that I have been experiencing complications, which resulted to two procedures. In the last two years, I had a heart ablation and a pacemaker was implanted. Being one of the oldest living with my condition, doctors are unsure what the future will hold. I am thankful for those who came before me that helped pave the way for me and others with CHDs; if not for them and the research I would not be where I am today. But so much more is needed. As those with CHDs are getting older, research is just as critical if not more so. CHD patients like myself are getting older and research is needed to help us live a long and healthy life. Today's research saves tomorrow's lives.
Please support me by donating to Team Tara, or by simply learning about congenital heart defects that affect nearly 40,000 babies and their families every year in the US. If you have any questions regarding CHDs please do not hesitate to ask me!
Thank you all for your love and support!
